I wish I could give him the benefit of the doubt and say he was an avid follower who meant well. Since I know everything, this is simply not possible. This is nothing more than a new governor trying to establish himself and set the tone for things to come. He is trying to use religious belief justify some very harsh partisan politics on the horizon. I ran this by Papa Jesus, and he agrees.

Not the smartest thing to say in a state that's actually previously gotten itself a reputation as a place friendly to international companies looking to build factories there. Seems like Tennessee or South Carolina just got a little bit of a boost the next time Toyota or Honda are looking to build a stateside plant since ability to work with local culture does come into play if the financial side offers are similar.
