it doesn't seem like too much to me. Probably because everything else is fairly "quiet." Except all those construction vehicles!!

I think the sheriff cars flipping their sirens off and on everytime someone drives by over 20 is even more annoying.

Palm trees are not indigenous anywhere in the U.S.
just another import...like kudzoo...boo boo boo booo:roll: ...but I do love a palm tree!!!!:D

Man, that's a lot of money for a tree.

Isn't the Florida palm indigenous to Florida? (But likely not *this* area.)

I've been told that pine trees are not indigenous to northwest Florida.
Like so many palm trees, have the pines too been naturalized here?

I have seen some huge, beautiful old oak trees here.

I'm sure Alys Beach would love to have a canopy of old oak trees instead of palms. Too bad it takes 80 years to make it happen!

When it comes to an upscale area with natural beauty, nothing in my opinion can replicate Captiva, which has that one road through its narrow spit of land, thick with trees, the beach houses on either side hidden away. I just don't have an extra $8-10 million, or whatever they're going for these days.

There are 12 palms native to Florida, The 2 other native American palms are in Texas and California.

The Sabal Palmetto or "Cabbage Palm" is the state tree of Florida and South Carolina. They are numerous in the big bend area of Florida west to Mexico Beach.
Thanks for that clarification! I guess it pays not to take a Vegas taxi driver's information as being correct! (we had a disagreement on the subject.)
