When I heard it was ALW tonight, I was soooo hoping David Cook would sing Music of the Night. He didn't disappoint. (I've only seen Phantom 5X's)

The David A. version from Phantom did not work for me.
He could have sped that song up a bit and made it youthful and used his instrument to make that song sound a tad spooky (like Phantom) but he didn't. I was with Simon when he said he didn't like it.

Granted I'm not overly fond of David A. to begin with, but tonight he made it contemporary in a bad prom song sort of way.

I didn't watch a lot of the early weeks, but I was expecting David A. to be transcendent or something, but in actuality he creeps me out. He is so talented but just seems really sad -- just something is off!

I am becoming a big David C. fan, meantime. Wow.

I agree all the way! DC gave me chills. He is incredible. He's been Sam's fav since the beginning.

David A sounds the same to me all the time.

It is interesting that at this point Simon Cowell knows, in his heart of hearts, that David Cook should be the American Idol--but, he cannot be "gushingly" praiseful or even reference him actually BEING the American Idol at this point--or he will risk the show losing a lot of viewership between now and the finale!

He said there are 3 or 4 really good singers - the rest are not as good (I think garbage was what he said)
I think they want David vs. David finale but my husband thinks Syesha is going to sneak in there. I hope not but someone must be voting for her - she doesn't seem to have very many fans on the internet. I thought it would be Davids and Jason at 1-3 but after tonight, I am not so sure.
