I just like watching it and seeing all the potential talent. But personally, none of it is my kind of music. But we do enjoy it and always have favs.

Look for my buddy from high school, Taylor. He must have just missed the age cut off. I know he made it thru the first four episodes as they are already recorded! :clap_1: BUT I don't know anymore!

Where did he audition?

No DVR or TIVO :dunno: in my house. I do have an old fashion VCR but no one to start it for me. :sosad: Maybe I am sick tonight. No really, I am feeling lousy today. Kind of achey.

I have Carrie's album and I love it. She is so beautiful and sweet.
I heard Bo's new release on Country radio recently and it was not bad, not great either. Not really what I expected from him. Hopefully he will do well!

Ok, I admit it. I had a "tv crush" on Bo, but maybe that's just because he looks (a little) like my husband. Don't know much about Idol, but I know a little about Bo. I was glad to see someone bring southern rock/jam/blues music to a national audience and then make it so far in the competition. He's very much like the musicians I know, plays roughly the same style we do, so I'm finding it interesting watching the RCA machine "package" his music for the masses. I mean, it's not '78 anymore, how do you sell southern jam rock to a mainstream audience? Well, turns out they made him do a pop album that's not really his style, and from what I hear, Bo is pretty chagrined about it. He's basically a songwriter, but they didn't let him use his own material. Then they gave him a Stepford band and overproduced it all. Pretty sad, but hey, better than no recognition at all.

My friend who's on his way to being a big star, (Michael Tolcher) is getting the same treatment from his label. It seems you almost have to sell out on your first national album. (He did, but now he's rich, has screaming fans and two TV shows use his music for theme songs now.)

I watch a little Idol now and then because I like to watch people follow their dream. But poor mr. blue runs screaming whenever I do, and no other friends will admit to it, so this is like a confession here. Please don't tell anyone I'm watching, and i'll dish a little with you here, k? Our secret. ;-)

You need a TIVO then. I work a lot of evening hours, and I love coming home afterwards to a nice hard drive full of prime time programming to watch, and I also get to fast-forward through commercials.
I got a TIVO for Christmas. Is it not just the best thing! I love it. What did I ever do without it? :clap_1:

katie, you are friends with Michael Tolcher?!?! Get out! I love him! My sis (lucky13) introduced me to his music. Now I'm betting I like the sell-out version of him since I'm not a longtime fan... lucky13 is going to flip when she reads this! When I was in Atlanta a year ago, we were out one night, and I saw his name on a marquee--don't remember where--and I was so disappointed we hadn't known earlier. Would have loved to have seen him.
Well, you know your SoWallers will keep your secret, right? :rotfl: P.S. I heard today to keep your eyes and ears open for two contestants--Ace and Patrick. That's all I know.

Yup, he's a good friend. We played with him a week ago Friday night here in Atl. (SJ, check it out, that's your old friend Ralph Roddenbery on the right, and our lead guitarist next to him.) John and I are just out of the shot in this one, but I have others...isn't "Mission Responsible" the best song? He wrote much of that while camping out in our field in his VW van, just before he went big. Glad you like him!

Hey katie, I tried all season to get my girls to watch Idol but most of them were too snooty. Julie paid attention a little. Like you, I enjoy seeing them try and also I love music of all sorts. You never know what you will find lurking there. Bo is awesome and I know one day he will do his own stuff. Even Keith Urban had to do the stuff others dictated. Now it seems to work for him and he is mega rich and famous. For sure let me know when you are playing in town.

I am not working tonight...I will be on the couch with my heating pad. It is rainy and yucky outside in atl.

You know, I know this is probably a stupid hangup, and I'm probably opening myself to all kinds of heckling and ridicule for admitting that this bothers me, but the fact that an Australian guy is a big country music star in the U.S. just seems weird to me. I've never seen him interviewed, though. What does his speaking voice sound like?
