Smokey was awesome as was Gladys Knight, Melinda and Lakisha! I loved Blake and Jordin in the opening number too. It was very cute.

I know you dislike Sanjaya's singing but sorry guys - he stole the show. You can scream and rant all you want but he was the entertainment this season. That is why he was the ONLY one of the top 10 to get a solo other than Blake and Jordin! I believe the only one ever in the history of AI for a 7th place finisher to get a solo! I don't care if you hate him or not, he withstood intense criticism, and a lot of hate for a 17 year old young man. I think AI knows that 6 weeks after he was voted off, he is still the most talked about idol ever. Something changed tonight on the AI message boards. When Sanjaya sang with Smokey and the rest of the top 5 guys, non fans of Sanjaya started posting that WOW, you could hear him and he sounded good. So, while you can continue the bashing, other people are giving him a chance.

I liked Taylor Hicks singing tonight, too. I hadn't really heard him before.

I don't know anyone who hates Vangina, but I know plenty of people who dislike his singing, including myself. He is just a kid, and should have never been in the top ten.

Overall, aside from how mean Simon has been and how smarmy Ryan (who I usually like) was to some of the people who received those joke awards, I really liked the goodwill that the contestants and others showed toward each other last night. Jordan and Blake seem to be sincerely good/appreciative/gracious people who supported each other. And I told the kids that I thought Sanjaya was really performing well and deserves his success. He has stayed in there and taken the critiques/jokes well and I hope he's doing what he loves and laughs all the way to the bank, in part by playing up people's critiques. He has made the most of his "moment". I hope he's a good guy, too, and stays likable (too soon to tell).

Jordin Sparks is just a kid also at 17. I like Sanjaya, always have. And yes, he deserved to be in the top ten. My opinion. And as for Billy Joe, I know groups names, not individuals names unless it is groups from my generation, like Kiss, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, etc. For instance, Joe Perry who was playing guitar while Kelly Clarkson sang.
