Poor Sanjaya. I just hope this kid does not commit suicide. I hope he is being encouraged to quit, seriously, even tho he does seem to be holding his own. But none of this ridiculous publicity is worth it. I imagine he is sticking it out to prove a point but this is just too much. This has gotten brutal and completely unkind.
If he can last, he'll surely have thicker skin and a stronger spine and end up a much better person when this is all over. Hopefully a lesson is being learned by future AI wannabe's - - don't do it.

Brutal and unkind to say the least. Music is and always will be subjective. Unless you are being held to a specific criteria, by a Music master, which this contest is being voted by everyone who can dial or text a vote, the outcomes are all subjective as well.

I saw a video of Sanjaya's mom watching him sing, and you could see the love and the hurt that she was feeling for him, when he was trashed. This isn't a Haley can't sing or a Phil can't sing, this is a hate frenzy that is going on. I am shocked by it all.

If the downloads are any indication, I predict that Sanjaya will be will be singing all the way to the bank, while all the bashers/haters will be wondering what the?

This is a TV show that these people CHOSE to be on.

This show has a long history of highlighting everyone's bad points in favor of ratings. (tackiness and meanness sells well these days) Contestants without thick skins should not be there. A better place for Sanjaya would have been the New Mickey Mouse Club or the star of the next High School Musical. But poor little Sanjaya is getting eaten alive, and a lot of people knew it AND planned it I am sure. He is too easy a target.

Y'all feel sorry for the kid? Stop watching the show. Ratings are supporting the continuation of this crucifixion. (sorry - it's Easter- that word comes up alot)

If Sanjaya's mother was crying, she could have avoided the whole debacle by not letting him participate. If Will was a paid opera singer, I wouldn't let him be on a trash show like AI, and subject him to the sleazy likes of Colin, Paula, and Randy. So he'll just continue to make awful videos (and y'all can see them on Youtube:roll: ).

Truer words were never spoken, jdarg. I love the show....can't say why...but what you say is right on. They ALL signed up for the good, bad and ugly and knew what they were in for.
