It turned out just how I had hoped. Yes, Melinda is an amazing singer but her style isn't young and fresh like the others. Blake is my favorite but I think Jordin will probably win.
I think Melinda has more of a Gladys Knight-type following.
I'm sure that she will be herself, because Simon wants to sell music, but as American Idol, aka Simon, retains control over all AI artists, he will retain control over what she does. She will still make herself and Simon much money, and she might even sell more music than this year's winner.

IMHO Melinda outclassed the others in a big way. I was a bit surprised both by that she got voted off AND that she wasn't sad. I don't think I've ever seen a happier person that just got voted off. I'm thinking she's already got a better contract than what she would've gotten out of AI. Look at what Carrie Underwood has done...far better than any AI winner to date. Melinda will go a long way...probably more so since she won't be as constrained by AI.

I noticed that as well. It takes a lot of character to be a good loser. Ditto on good luck to the finalists.
The winner went home tonight, IMO. She was the most consistent, always on pitch, and I disagree with whomever said she can only sing one way. She can definitely rock. Have a Nice Day was one of my favorite performances of hers. If this was supposed to be a singing competition, which people keep saying, the best singer went home. I think Blake is a great arranger, not a great singer. He has a decent voice, but compared to Melinda? Jordin, also has better vocals than Blake, but was not consistent throughout the season. Is it just about the last performance or a compilation of all the songs. Last night, Melinda out sung the rest. What happened?

Apparently I fit squarely in the Melinda Demographic, 29-44 women or something like that. I guess from pure demographics it's not a huge surprise that she went home ... the younger voters are going to vote more, and they may not always be the best judge of talent. :roll: Still, I went like this
for a few minutes, until I saw how darned calm she was about all of it. Blake actually looked far more miserable than Melinda did. I can't wait to see what Melinda does next. Blake has grown on me a lot, but Jordan has started to bug me a bit even as her performances have improved. I noticed a bit of attitude yesterday ... but she is 17, hopefully someone will knock it out of her. I think all three could have interesting careers, and even though this has been a "boring" season, they will fare better than all of the season 5 class except for Daughtry.
