Oh I'll definitely try that next time. I was thinking that nurse may have just played a joke on me by doing that. Who knows.
next time you see that nurse you just give her one of these:

I'm a nurse practitioner...I think you should get a new healthcare provider! I NEVER meet a patient for the first time disrobed, and instruct my staff re same. I know many physicians, etc who do so, however. As a patient, I have refused multiple times to disrobe before a new doc/practitioner meets me. Shame on that doc, and shame on his/her staff!

I have a question for any physicians in the crowd.

Last week, I went to a new doctor for a physical. It had been a long time since I had one so I didn?t quite know what to expect.

The nurse did all the blood work and other stuff and then told me to strip down and wait on the doc. So, I?m sitting there in this tiny, COLD room, stark naked, only covered by a stupid little crotch-sized blue blanket thing.

After about twenty minutes of this, the doctor comes in and I can?t help but notice that he has a confused look on his face. He reaches out and shakes my hand and introduces himself. (I usually don?t like to be naked the first time I meet someone.)

He then starts his normal checkup, checking lungs, throat, ears, etc. Thankfully, no poking or prodding involved. He then shakes my hand again, and walks out the door.
I think I even saw a smirk on his face as he walked out the door.

My question to you is, Why the hell do I have to be butt naked for this procedure?

Are you sure the nurse did not say, "sit" down and wait on the Doc?

I think that's the one they do when I hit 50 or so?? :dunno:

Many men are found to have cancer at ages well below 50. The sooner detected, the better the results of the treatment. Personally, I think if you go to a doctor for a physical, the doc should be checking for everything.

Like it or not, every doc is operating within a set of constraints imposed by your friend and mine, Big Insurance. The proc in question costs at least 3K (involves somethin akin to a general), so most ins doesn't cover it under 50 unless there's an elevated patient history risk (personal or family incidence).

Would you look at that. Congratulations! Insert party smilies here.

Thanks! And about the nurse, I confirmed with her what she wanted me to do and she said, "strip down to yer birthday suit".

I may have to slam a few beers in the parking lot next time I go to take the edge off.
