Actually it looked more like several mini tornadoes over the water that dropped out of the sky from a bad looking dark cloud. I was watching from the beach access down from Goatfeathers. It moved from the SW past a Cobia boat (bet they got a really good view) and appeared to be headed into the beach down about 2 or 3 miles away.

All the times that I go to the beach and take a camera, and I miss seeing waterspouts. They are actually more common than most folks realize, and just as you describe - "mini" funnels dropping out of a dark cloud, but most don't even make it to the water.

However, when they do...:yikes:

Saw it when it crossed 30A in front of Johnny McTighes. The water part was gone but the wind blew the little yellow paper box across 30a and all those books/magazines went flying. I sure was glad that all the kayaks at Bid Daddys were tied down.

Saw it, of course, being from oklahoma we notice "funnels" alot. I will post my pic when I get back home w/ my camera cord..

SJ, was your pic from yesterday? If so, you were on the other side of it than we were.

There were a few interesting clouds yesterday. We watched a nasty one form w/ an updraft that was really big and neat.

I witnessed 3 of these last time while setting up for a beach front wedding for 100. :bang: The bride and her mother immediately went into hyperventilated induced panic. It was a hoot. Haven't seen one lately, but then I don't usually head to the beach when it's that cloudy to begin with.
