Standard poodles do cost a boatload of money to groom (every 6-8 weeks in Atlanta it's $110 for grooming or $200 if matted, plus tip). But I adore mine. She is so beautiful, intelligent, loving, and athletic.

If you're serious about selling your dog, jfunn, I highly recommend someone taking you up on your offer. He's adorable, and standard poodles are great dogs. They are totally different in temperament from the miniature poodles I had (as in, not yappy). Also, they don't shed!
