I'm debating keeping one I got for the Christmas. I read the paper at home on my laptop and I read books mostly on the beach. At night, my brain doesn't function well enough to absorb reading and I do mindless things, like watch TV.

Can you share books with other people who aren't in your account? I am trying to learn more about this through amazon threads. I know you can get freebies. Tell me why I should keep it and not buy blue ray DVD's.

Post any tips you might have for us kindlegartners.

You can only book share if you are on the same account.

I do love the kindle though. It's much lighter if you are reading multiple books and like to swap back and forth. It's nice if you finish a book to be able to browse, click, and be reading a new selection in seconds. This has come in real handy for me the last few months, since hospital waiting rooms have been my second home.
Being able to adjust the font size is nice as well. I misplace my reading glasses often. Overall, I'm really happy with the Kindle.

I have a brand new kindle and I wasn't sure about it either but I'm going to give it a go. I do love reading so I figure I'll love it no matter what. anyone I've spoken to who owns one is quite happy with it. I want to check out online newspapers and blogs with it and maybe actually get into the habit of reading some news sources again.

I like the Kindle because you can get books quickly; many are free, or really cheap. No more trees are cut; I don't have lots of books lying around that I wanted to read, but really don't want to keep.
For travel it is great because it is not as heavy as books are--I read two or three books at the same time and they get heavy.

I appreciate y'alls REAL responses. Even after 16 years here I continue to have immediacy yearnings!

This (kindle, nook, whatever) is one of the few things I've 'wanted' AND heard GOOD reports from my beloved A-type-ever-connected-friends who continue the international jet travel lifestyle ... but when we discuss the tactile emotional pleasure aspects of reading (as one example) they ALL end up blessing me for having the balls to risk the BIG ASS $ LIFE against the 'checking out / reduction' lifestyle choice of prematurely (their words) moving to the beach.

I'm SOOOO happy and thankful for our exquisite "new" SoWal Community LIbrary! My still on-the-treadmill-buy-it-when-it crosses-your-mind friends have forgotten the joys of a community lending library (and librarians).

I got the Sony Reader for Christmas and I can't get it to download the account to get books. I've registered, but it says it is not connecting to wifi.....it connected to wifi to register???? I think I will love it if I can get it the damn thing to work. It works at my sons house on his router, but not mine. I am confused......:dunno:

I use the Kindle App on my laptop and like it. I have to take my laptop everywhere for work travel so it doesn't make a lot of sense to get a second reader YET. Now when the Ipad increases its work capabilities, I will likely switch to it and leave the laptop mostly at home.
