Breaking news from Tucson. CNN has Arizona congresswoman among 12 shot at Tuscon grocery

At least 12 people were shot at a Tuscon grocery store on Saturday, and U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was among them, a Democratic party source told CNN.

Giffords was holding a constituent meeting at the grocery store when the shooting occurred, according to a schedule posted on her website.

Neither Giffords' condition nor that of any of the other wounded was immediately available. The Democratic source described the situation as "pretty serious."

Her website is swamped, but it will come up in the Google cache and you can see the description of the event at a Safeway grocery store.

This is so disheartening.

Now they are saying it was fatal to the Congresswoman.

I understand that they have the perpetrator in custody. If he/she is convicted I hope that AZ has the death penalty. We need to take very strong actions against people that commit these acts.

Of course, I also hope that this doesn't become a reason for yet another government agency aimed at further constraining our liberties.

NPR is reporting that the Congresswoman and 5 others are dead.

How horrible. I just don't understand why people do these things or think they are in any way a solution to whatever their problems are.
