There was a really nice art gallery on 30-A just past the Abbott rental place near Eastern Lake. "Art that doesn't match the couch" or something close. When we were down at the beach last month, we noticed that it was shutting down! Since we'd bought lots of nice items there, we were sad.

Does anyone a good substitute, a gallery that carries the work of many artists? Our other favorite art gallery in Grayton Beach just past the intersection no longer carries multiple artists as it once did, only one artist (though his work is very good). We like variety. (And we have a condo in desperate need of some cool artwork!)

Sometimes the obvious is right under your nose.

Thanks! That's a great idea. It was Kurt's photos that led me to this site in the first place (I googled "seagrove beach photos" and Voila!)

House of Art is no longer there in Grayton, but Gordie has his work in one of the shops in Shops of Grayton not too far up Hwy 283. I saw Lisa's car over there today. Lisa, you there? Hi. You will find folk art in Pt Washington in Eileen's gallery, I forgot the name of it. Another place to find some local folk art is in Big Hula Mamas blah blah blah Gallery ( I can never remember the name) in the building next to Sherwin Williams on Hwy 283. Of course, if you are looking to add some beautiful photos, Kurt sells some incredible photographs from this very site.

Lily Pads in Grayton might be the one SJ means. There was a Lisa who helped me when I bought a piece last month. Lots of neat items there. Very artsy/gifty. Give yourself time to wander! :D

No, Lily Pads is located on Hwy 30-A. Gordie is in the Shops of Grayton due north of Mystic Port Shopping complex located on Hwy 283, north of 30-A. Big Mama's Hula Gallery (or something like that) is located north of the Shops of Grayton next to Sherwin Williams. Lily Pads is fun, but if you are looking for local stuff try the above two, although not everything is local, along with Eileen West's gallery in Point Washington up and off of Hwy 395.

I purchased one of Gordie's paintings several years ago. My husband and son had gone deep sea fishing, and I went shopping up at the House of Art. Gordie had painted the perfect deep sea fishing scene- 3 guys on a boat. One looked just like my husband, another like my son, and the third was a dead ringer for David Crosby. So I bought it. The boys came home with way too many fish and my husband had been sick as a dog most of the trip-he says heatstroke, but I TOLD him before he left to just suck it up and take the damn Bonine "cause ya never know when you are going to be sick! He didn't listen to me. It has been 3 years and I think the painting still brings up bad memories for him of deep sea fishing. It is still my favorite local purchase and congrats to Gordie and Lisa on the Coastal Living article!

Hey Mermaid...Check out www.funkybeachart.com

My dad got a wild hair one day and started painting. He had some stuff in Collaborations for a while and then has just been doing paintings on the side here and there. Let me know what you think. Maybe he'll give me a commission. (Yeah right)

Tell your Dad that he needs to add SoWal.com to his list of links. He has GraytonBeach.com, but he needs to get with the program.
