No it isn't, and when people start to really pay attention to his policies of big governement intervention he will have a hard time winning the hearts and minds of most Americans.

I think most of his supporters do want big government.

Why shouldn't there be oversite of CEO salaries? Do we just forget what happened recently with CEO's who felt there bloated salaries weren't enough?
CEOs who break the law need to be punished accordingly, but the gov't has no business in private business. Stockholders can have their say.

OK, suppose a law is passed and the CEOs are paid the same salary as the guy in the mail room. How does that benefit you, I or anyone else? It does not;this is simply fodder to reel in the leftiest lefties.

I am so disappointed. I thought Barack Obama was a "different" kind of politician and now I find out that he doesn't really means what he says - it is simply fodder to reel in some votes.

Read the article again - it is not about the government having any say in executive compensation, it is about the SHAREHOLDERS having a say.

Right now, executive compensation is NOT generally discussed at shareholder meetings. This is discussed at BOD meetings, and then everyone else gets to be surprised when the financials are published.

Executive compensation is controlled by the Board of Directors. The shareholders meet annually to elect the Board of Directors. THIS IS HOW THE SHAREHOLDERS HAVE THEIR SAY.

I think you should stop wasting your time. Some people are not ready for economics 101, Obama included. This is just more grandstanding so the kool aid drinkers think he actually has an idea. He should just stick with "hope and change", that seemed to be working.

Publically traded companies must report executives (all) salaries today. That happens prior to the yearly stockholder meeting. Read and execute on what is reported. Jane and John Q public are not required to purchase stock from any company. Remember It?s a freedom of choice, Some of you hit the nail on the head. This bill is only for the socialists? in the electorate. Nothing more. I am always worried when a politician telles me I "need". Political "needs" always does damage and cost's money. I guess thats when "Less is More" comes in to play?

We are in a global marketplace, like it or not. We compete against all on cost, and Quality. Who pays for this non binding vote, the companies. Just another expense that company has to carry, and for what, to make me feel all good inside? If Jane or John do not like the way a company is run, sell.
