Referendum:

"In order to stop the uncontrolled growth of our national debt and prevent excessive borrowing by the Federal Government, which threatens our economy and national security, should the United States Constitution be amended to require a balanced federal budget without raising taxes?"

Well, not just yes, but hell yes! However, it mentions nothing of curtailing the spending, which some might argue would be a given. In today's politrix, nothing is a given, IMHO.

Don't you just love political semantics?

It's nothing more than a Republican infomercial for the ballot.
I do think think it covers "curtailing the spending" in a sense because it includes, "without raising taxes." Current taxes won't pay for the current budget. The trick could come in "fees," as a way to avoid the word, "taxes." Regardless, America will never see a balanced budget again.

Yes, I think the spending variable is a given, but interesting that it is specifically not included.

Dems AND Reps like to spend. Heck, I love to spend.....within my budget. I agree with you on never seeing a balanced budget again - our deficit is much to high.
