Ballard Designs? Any recommendations?

Anybody ever order a sofa from them? They have stores in the south, just not near me. So, I am thinking of ordering a basic sofa but would love to hear some first hand opinions.

I have ordered furniture through them, nice furniture, just aweful customer service. Only received partial shipment, but the delivery person wrote down I recieved all of it (I was not home)...It took me a month to get everything. And then...billing was screwd up.. I was offered a refund, when it came in the mail, it was a coupon for ballard design...only. I gave up and don't order from them any more.

Ditto. Screwed up invoice. Shop around, they are pricey when you compare apples to apples. I am totally an Overstock.com all the way now kinda guy.

We've ordered several pieces of furniture from them. Tables and cabinets; nothing upholstered though. We've never had one problem. I'd order again in a heartbeat.

have you checked out room and board? roomandboard.com I ordered all of my furniture from them.

Count me as another Room & Board fan. Very good CS, reasonable prices, and about 70% of what they sell is still American-made.

I am so picky that I could never buy any seating without testing it first. I have purchased a few items from Ballard and never had a problem.

Thanks to all. Yes, I have looked at room and board. I may give it another glance now. Miss Kitty--I agree, I don't know if I am willing to order w/out "sitting on it" first. Thanks for all the info. I knew I could count on some help on this great board.

Same as Miss Kitty, I have ordered a few items from them without problem, but nothing as large as a sofa.

They have an outlet near me. And I'm always amazed at how much stuff they have in disrepair. I know that's the point of an outlet -- to get rid of the banged up stuff. But it makes me leary of their quality. I'm not sure I'd buy a major piece of furniture from them.
