They have an outlet near me. And I'm always amazed at how much stuff they have in disrepair. I know that's the point of an outlet -- to get rid of the banged up stuff. But it makes me leary of their quality. I'm not sure I'd buy a major piece of furniture from them.
their quality appears to be exactly the same as Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and Crate & Barrel.

I am so picky that I could never buy any seating without testing it first. I have purchased a few items from Ballard and never had a problem.
Us, too. Big D always has to try out sofas and chairs before we purchase them. Most are not big enough for him to be comfortable.

I bought a Crate and Barrel sofa for daughter's place in Midtown. It's Mitchell Gold and is really comfortable. Crate and Barrel has a wide range of quality. The knock-down stuff (like her bedroom furniture) isn't as good as the non-knock-down stuff. Surprisingly enough, the best piece she has is from Pottery Barn. It's a big, chunky, sturdy, square, wooden coffee table that we got on sale for $599. I love that table.
