if you missed this speech from last night in virginia, please take a few minutes to watch and listen. obama must be the greatest orator of our time, by far in the politics arena for sure. this is really something to witness.

When I did the Town Hall Meeting with Sen. Obama in South Carolina, I was sitting about 9 feet from him. The opening speech he made that night was pretty much this speech. So, if I sometimes seem a bit zealous in my support of Sen. Obama, I hope you guys will factor that in.

I think if you look back at my posts, there is a definite change in tone before and after the Tuesday I heard this speech. Before, it was all about policies and ideas. After, it was about policy and issues and a desperate longing for a country where people were united, and hopeful, and moving forward in a positive direction. To borrow a phrase, I desperately want it to be morning in America again. There is something about a great communicator, combined with political ideas that mesh well with my own, that makes me feel so hopeful about the future.

So, let me apologize if I'm sounding like a cheerleader from time to time. If you watch this video and don't feel a little optimistic, a little excited, you're made of stone. (Or a dittohead, I guess very right leaning people are probably immune. )

hi cil!!! I love this article. and I feel the same, except I'm not embarrassed about loving this man's message and spirit. if people don't get it, it's their problem.

the first two paragraphs are great:

You are embarrassing yourselves. With your "Yes We Can" music video, your "Fired Up, Ready to Go" song, your endless chatter about how he's the first one to inspire you, to make you really feel something -- it's as if you're tacking photos of Barack Obama to your locker, secretly slipping him little notes that read, "Do you like me? Check yes or no." Some of you even cry at his speeches. If I were Obama, and you voted for me, I would so never call you again.

Obamaphilia has gotten creepy. I couldn't figure out if the two canvassers who came to my door Sunday had taken Ecstasy or were just fantasizing about an Obama presidency, but I feared they were going to hug me. Scarlett Johansson called me twice, asking me to vote for him. She'd never even called me once about anything else. Not even to see "The Island."

this is from the virginia speech, and its what makes me most excited about obama, and its about educating children as they should be educated.

It?s also time to give every child, everywhere, a world-class education, from the day they?re born to the day they graduate college. I am only here today because somebody, somewhere, gave my father a ticket to come study in America. Because my mother got the opportunity to put herself through graduate school. Because even though we didn?t have much growing up, I got scholarships to go to some of the best schools in the country. That?s the chance I believe every child should have.

but in the speech, he said more than what is shown in his prepared written speech. much more.

Joel Stein is one of those people I always thought I should have married, and I love this article.

Of course I love the article that he wrote at the very beginning of the campaign process, where he based his like/dislike for the candidates based on whether or not they responded to his friend requests on MySpace...

Inspriring to say the least. The 3 Hillary votes in this family are just about to get wheelbarrowed over to Obama...I just want my prayers answered....well, they have been-- Bush is gone in 300 some odd days...whew.
