The lovely second graders at Bay Elementary are collecting donations for ECWR and Alaqua. We have been closely following the oil spill and learning about the impact on our area, particularly the wildlife. I haven't heard anything about Alaqua needing donations but I spoke to someone from there today and found that they are collecting donations. Each classroom will have a donation bin but supplies can also be dropped at the office. This is a great way to get your donations in without having to drive into Destin or Freeport. I also know that Seaside Neighborhood School is taking donations for ECWR as well. Here are some things that they need:
baby blankets
towels
18-24 gallon rubbermaid containers with lids
heat lamps/bulbs
heating pads (without automatic shut off)
gift cards to grocery/hardware stores

They also needs large troughs and portable plastic pools but we decided that wasn't practical for us to collect and transport but just an fyi for everyone on the message board.

Thanks!

I am still waiting on the go ahead, but hoping to have a drop off station at Watercrossing Publix on Saturday 10-4. Will post more as soon as I hear back from Manager Steve Meyers.
