We are meeting some KY friends over at Baytowne tonight- 2 birthdays to celebrate, 4 year old girl and her dad.

We have only eaten at the BBQ place and Acme. Do y'all have any recommendations or warnings about the others, and which restaurant would be fun for a birthday in your opinion?

Try Graffiti and the funky blues shaq good food and fun atmosphere go after 8:30,they feature live music in the bar plus locals own it [my best friend]

Not sure if you've done this already, but instead of driving into the Baytowne Wharf directly to the pzrking right dead center wharf, its more funn to park near the boat (which was free last time I went).
Parking is closer to entry.

The boat is more scenic, and they let the kiddies steer.
They let me. :D

It is threatening storms today, so the launch doesn't run if it is storming- may just drive in today. :sosad: But the boat is our preferred method of transport at Baytowne- the parking garage is the pits.

Thanks Oli- we haven't eaten at Graffiti- it seems like it would be a fun birthday kind of place!

Agreed that Graffiti is probably the best option... Atmosphere-wise, it's like the House of Blues, only the food is MUCH better.... Also, with kids in tow, Mango's Paradise Grill is a great spot in Baytowne.... There's a huge playground right next to it... The kids can play while the adults enjoy drinks and listen to live music... Their service CAN be a little hit and miss though... (but that's true of just about any place down here)...

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to telling 3 little girls that they can't play on the toxic playground.:sosad: Maybe we better stay away from that section of Baytowne.

lol...i dunno....my kids have played on that playground many times, and they haven't developed any extra mutant limbs (yet).... and the surface is not hot in the evenings (although I can't tell you about mid-day, just because we've never been there at that time).... But as skunk pointed out in his post on that topic, the research simply doesn't support the notion that those tire shreds are unsafe or unhealthy.... if anyone has evidence to the contrary, i'm all eyes:yikes:

but, if you're concerned about your kids' health to that degree, then keep them out of swimming pools, the Gulf, the Bay, lakes and schools... They're much more likely to get sick in any one of those places than they are by running around for 30 minutes on a surface of shredded rubber..... hell, i dunno about your kids, but my kids' shoes have rubber soles! lol

I second Griffitis. Pretty good food and the music was good. Then go to Famous Door, no nevermind, you'll have the kids with you. But when you are in the mood to dance, then that's the place to go. IMHO.
