BREAK ON THROUGH: Crist says he'd consider pardon for dead rocker Jim Morrison | morrison, crist, rocker - News - Northwest Florida Daily News
Gov. Charlie Crist says he's still thinking about a pardon for long-dead rocker Jim Morrison, a Florida native who died nearly 40 years ago in a Paris bathtub at age 27.

Crist said Tuesday he wanted to discuss that possibility with Cabinet members before formally taking up the issue. It would require the governor to get another vote from the four-member panel.

Morrison was convicted of exposing himself on stage during a raucous 1969 concert in Miami and was appealing that conviction when he died.

Morrison, who was born in Melbourne in 1943, became be one of the top rock 'n roll acts in the late 1960s as the lead singer and lyricist for a group named the The Doors. Their 1967 single, "Light My Fire,'' was a huge hit.

Happy he's stroking Morrison or maybe sad that he's not getting real governing done?

Indifferent. There's still a bit of silliness in government, and it's no more silly than the annual pardoning of the White House turkey, which happens no matter the party of the office-holder. .

I'm all for Crist's plan.

Rick Scott has asked Crist to hold off on the pardon, however. It seems that Scott wants to bill Medicare for a time machine so he and a blue ribbon panel can go back to that night and get to the bottom of the matter.

Crist is just a rider on the tea party storm, and he's trying to break on through to the other side.

I still like Charlie Crist (even though one little evil Sowaller placed a Rubio sign on my front lawn  ).....and I am old enough to remember hearing about the Jim Morrison "incident" on the radio.

Jim ended up staying in France (and eventually dying there) to avoid being jailed here in the U.S...hmmmm...in retrospect, somehow Polanski's crime seems to be/ and is in fact a much more heinous crime than showing off your penis during a rock concert in 1969??

I love Jim Morrison and his contribution to music, and I love Charlie for his contribution to politics in Florida, now and in the future....

What possibly can be gained from wasting government time and money to do this? :dunno:

Morrison's been dead for decades, so I am pretty sure he's not anxiously waiting on a pardon and it's not like this incident ruined his career.

As what? Crist's political career is dead. The only future he has is the guest speaker circuit for low to no budget events.
