Don't listen to the single kayak crap. It is worth risking a divorce scenario to be able to kick back and let hubby do the work while you enjoy the views. The biggest thing to consider is getting it to the water. If you do not have a permit to drive it to the beach it gets pretty exhausting carrying it to the water and is even worse carrying it back. Another benefit of renting is they will lug the thing for you. But we love ours...have not tipped it yet but have gotten out on purpose and manged to flop back in.
