Customers of the Beachview Mini Warehouse got the news last month that the rental storage complex had been sold to make way for The Courtyards at Seagrove, said Beachview manager Donna Moore.
Moore sent out registered letters to the owners of the 193 units notifying them they had about three months to pack up and move.
?Everybody has to be out by March 31. The site is going to be bulldozed,? she said.
The owner of the mini storage units purchased Seagrove Center Storage and Moore is working to move some renters there. For others, Seagrove Climate Controlled Storage that will open in March is another option. Moore said about half her customers planned to move into the new climate controlled facility.
The rent will be a bit higher there, so to help those renters and others who want to empty out the storage units rather than haul years of accumulated treasures and trash elsewhere, Moore has planned a yard sale on Feb. 11, 12, 18 and 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The retail space in front of the storage units will also be demolished.
Eight months ago, Collaborations shut its doors, now the remaining retail businesses have moved out. Moore said most of the business owners had relocated, but the owners of House of Angels and Sharper Image Salon decided to close.

I am starting to get an eerie feeling....is EVERYTHING along 30-A being demolished for more places to buy? Are we going to be left with nothing but developments with no restaurants, stores or services????

We may soon be reminiscing about the "good old days" of the $10 cheeseburger (which you will be driving to Freeport for).

Perhaps we should plan a get-together, so that we can all swap stories and memories of the place. You know, how it defined the area, is an example of days-gone-by, etc.

I'll bring a covered-dish and a few tablecloths...

And I'll bring a bottle of I-Hoppy Pinot Noir with strong atomic traces of cheap gin....and the tissues. :sosad:

Where are these storage units? Are they the ones at the end of Seagrove Beach near Angelinas retaurant and Rollin Tide condos? If those are the ones in question, I'm not sorry to see them go. They're unsightly--no landscaping whatsoever, just units plunked down on bare earth.
