I know "brain surgery" has gotten a major mystique around it. It even has cute sayings about it, related to intelligence, But, the reality is that it is mostly a motor muscle skill, not unlike plumbing and electrical wiring. You can study it, focus on that one skill, and be adept at moving your fingers just right in a small cavity; and still have not a whole lot of smarts when it comes to things like ancient history, and current foreign policy. I would think that spending most of your career in such a specific, narrow field of study might be detrimental to knowing a whole lot about the real world. But, of course, I'm not a brain surgeon...
