But I can't do these little tricks using the control button for some reason, just the message box helper way.
You have to set your options to WYSIWYG.
Go to "user cp"
"edit options"
scroll to bottom to Misc Options and you will see several choices from which - to choose
select "Enhanced Interfaced - Full WYSIWYG Editing" (WYSIWYG = what you - see is what you get.;-))

If you do this, the ctrl feature will work. It also works for Word docs and other Microsoft programs.

Only here could something like, "How do I underline?" turn into a full-blown tangent, occupying a major part of the day!

I was on the phone with my mother last night asking her if she's come across any good books (she volunteers at the library so she's in the know). She sent me an e-mail with suggestions:Karen Joy Fowler
The Jane Austen Book Club
Sweetheart Season
The Jane Austen Book Club hit the NY Times bestseller list last year, and it's about timet, Karen Fowler is getting the attention and sales (and I hope the money) she deserves. She incapable of writing an infelicitous sentence. Wry, sly, subversive stories. She's written more, but start with these two.
I can vouch for this one--I enjoyed it!
Mermaid, your MIL sounds like someone I'd love to meet!
Is she still in England?

Peapod, it's my mother, not Merman's mother, who is the big reader in the family. Merman's mum is six feet under and probably crumbled to dust at this point. :sosad:
