What kind of example does this set for small children?? I'm just thinking of all of the ridiculous costumes I see kids in on Halloween...not to mention what the adults dress in themselves. I remember the poor guy dressed as a Wild Thing at the halloween party this year. Poor guy, couldn't see where he was going, couldn't drink, and he said the music vibrated horribly inside the beast head. Yet, he made it through just fine. I think the pups will survive the humiliation and I don't think anyone is standing there with a cattle prod forcing them to stand still!

Kids costumes on Halloween (????) has nothing to do with the animal abuse portrayed in this thread, I think you totally missed the point --just take a look into the face of the dog in that confining outfit on this thread!

Without touching that robot suit, it's hard to determine if it is like a snowsuit that is made for dogs, especially that breed of dog (which looks like a greyhound to me) For all we know, the materials may be such that dog could roll over it in. Greyhounds have absolutely no fat and freeze in Winter. Not only that, most of the greyhounds I have seen are rescue dogs. Chances are very good this dog with the robot suit has to wear clothes outside, and if it wears this funny one briefly to bring more awareness to the breed, so be it. He's probably used to it.

There are animals lovers and then there are extreme animal lovers. I have found that in some cases, extreme animal lovers can actually be a detriment to animals that need homes and would be well taken care of, just maybe not up to the extreme standard some believe.

I know dogs that need clothes to stay warm and some that actually enjoy wearing them. A friend's dog goes and looks for his doggy snuggy before he settles in at night.

Alpha, you went ballistic when I posted this picture of my rescued cat who was sporting a Christmas bow that easily came off her head if she wanted to remove it. She was purring while I took the pictures. You berated me on my Facebook page instead of messaging me. She wasn't dressed in a costume, the bow wasn't glued to her head, she was perfectly comfortable.

I'm only raising this here because I was very upset that I seemed to be accused of abuse to a pet that was rescued off the streets in freezing weather, has had regular vet visits, is fed well and loved by both my husband and I. So, you got as upset as you did, and you know me. How do you know these animals are being abused??

It's extreme attitudes like this that may prevent people from adopting animals. Trust me I know. A stay at home mom friend fell in love with my Shih-Tzu, went to a rescue for one, and was denied because she said that initially she would crate the dog when she was not home; which is something any respectable trainer or dog rescue would recommend until the dog is adjusted to a new home and for it's own protection. Not only that, many dogs feel safe in their crates. Instead, she went to puppy store, so the rescue became part of the problem and not the solution.

I did a little search and found this article about "Bones" which is this dog's name. The owner happens to be a veterinarian. The owners also have a pug they dress up.

Andrews: The response have been overwhelmingly positive. I never expected this to happen since the video was just a quick impromptu clip. There have been a few people who have expressed concern because they mistakenly think Chubbs can’t breathe because she is overheating or that dressing her up is mistreating her. While those can be concerns when dressing a pet in a costume, I have allayed many people's fears by letting them know that I am not only Chubbs' mom, but I’m also her veterinarian! We pay very close attention to Chubbs when she is in costume to make sure she doesn’t overheat. Those who have never spent a lot of time around pugs are often surprised by how loud their breathing is, especially when they are excited, and when she is in costume she knows she is being shown off and loves the attention so she gets very excited to strut her stuff!

Also, Bones has a Facebook page and was rescued.

Bottomline, dressing up animals (pets) for the visual enjoyments of the "human" breed is just wrong, included in this group can be "veternarians" as well as owners who, in most cases, love and protect their pets.

There is even a well know local shelter in the area that takes direct donations from a tragic local Mardi Gras event which holds pets hostage in ridiculous outfits. Hopefully, like the abuse done by circus around the world, this too shall cease.
