On Sunday, October 9, 2022, Charter Boat Special K landed a 349.6-pound Warsaw grouper during the Destin Fishing Rodeo.

According to Capt. Kyle Lowe, while it was one angler who fought the fish, it took 5 people to get it into the boat. It is also a new record for the boat.

Congrats to Captain Kyle Lowe and the crew on Charter Boat Special K. The Destin Fishing Rodeo runs all month long, with scales open from 10am-7pm at AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar on the Destin Harbor.

Not really but maybe I should? Just saw a photo opp of guys with a big gator strung up on social media from the local newspaper and it made me sad to see it.

It's purely for sport since that fish isn't gonna work real well for cooking.

A lot of people put more value on a Leopord than a turtle, a billfish vs a catfish. All life is sacred in my book. Except roaches but even they are gods children.

Maybe it has to do with numbers since, other than pollution, we aren’t shrinking fish habitat through development. Also a fish can be caught and released versus the finality of big game hunting.

I don't have a problem with killing nuisance or invasive species (roaches, yellow flies, pythons, iguanas, giant African snails, lionfish, erc.). For all other critters that can be legally harvested, my rule is that you only get to kill it if you're going to eat it.
