The sand is so soft and deep that I think you would have to drag the bike out to the water, and then hope you don't sink down in the wet sand. I don't walk on the beach much because it is hard to find consistently firm sand to walk on- I can't imagine trying to bike.

May I correctly assume that biking is permitted on the beach? I've done a bit of searching and cannot seem to arrive at an answer.

Yes it is permitted, but the only time I have seen it done successfully is after a hurricane when the sand is packed. As Jdarg said it would be very difficult. There are however 17 miles of bike path along 30-A and numerous trails in Pt Washington State Forest to enjoy.

...and if you ride on the beach, be sure you do so on a bicycle that you don't mind throwing away after a few months. Rust is a real b_tch on metal.
