We may have to talk about Liza. Its on a Friday night.....But its LIZA!, with Z!

I'm getting the impression from what I'm reading that the Margaritaville is going to be on the beach, 46 acres, where the Grand and Magic "USED TO BE". I think I need to run over there and see what is going on.

Anybody have any real scoop? Last couple of times I've been to the Imperial and never went to the beach.

Franny, I'd go for the Beaux. But I'm getting the impression the Grand is gone, or the casino section has moved, (again) to where the standing hotel was. If I wasn't so busy tonight and tomorrow afternoon I'd drive over to look.

A Lunch Suggestion:

Mary Mahoney's: http://marymahoneys.com/home.html
Lunch Menu: http://marymahoneys.com/lunch.html
(Says $14.95, but is now $16.95--inflation! Thanks Ben!)

Beautiful old restuarant across the street from the Beau Rivage.
Needed extensive refurbishment after Katrina (there's some photos of the damage at the restuarant).

Service was great
Meal was very good and lunch a good value for money
NOT OPEN on Sunday

I wouldn't recommend the stuffed flounder (whole split flounder with skin and bones (!) and an ice cream scoop-shaped lump of "stuffing" on top ) Companion said fish and stuffing, though tasty, took some doing to get around bones and the stuffing was stodgy.

I had a very good grilled tuna (med rare) with a side of very tasty crawfish etouffee on linguine; companions also liked the broiled snapper that comes with same side dish. Another loved their prime rib. For the set price, you get a generous-sized entree and all come with a passable salad, soft--not crusty--store-quality french bread (note the small "F") and a dessert choice of sherbet or bread pudding. Bread pudding was good--not great (like mine), but a tasty end to the meal; sherbet came in an assortment of flavors.

The restaurant is in a beautifully restored old French House scattered throughout the different rooms (check out the history on the website) with a neat courtyard and a small bar.

Reading some reviews on the web, it appears this place runs from average to great. I've had friends who've lunched there 3 times and they loved it every time--I've only been once, which is why I can only recommend you spring for the $17 lunch to give it a try. :dunno:

Good Luck in Biloxi!

The Grand Hotel and Casino are now entirely on the north side of the road. South of the road is a construction site...not sure what they're building there, but they've still got a way to go until it resembles anything.

You make a great bread pudding? Can I be the judge of that? :dunno:

Franny, have a wonderful time. Don't have any suggestions since I have only passed through.

....I usually make it a little different every time, but for starters, I always use cinnamon raisin bread for depth of flavor. Sauce for topping is a good bourbon, sugar, heavy cream, vanilla & butter melted together (an little extra pour of bourbon when finished if you like the alcohol "kick"). Spoon some sauce over the top of the pudding when it comes out of the oven, with more laddled over each serving.
