Actually, I didn't think they were ever in style in any era--there's a cult out there who wear them to identify each other.

For Christmas parties, I like to buy a white sweatshirt, and paint images of Santa and glue cotton balls to the shirt. This can be topped off with a little sparkle (glitter) They are so cute. :funn:

I am not certain if a new black velvet jacket qualifies as being "casual." I just cannot see it matching my Birks, which are casual. It is okay to dress on occasion, it can be rather fun, but let's not call it casual. If you are going to dress, dress big!

I think the last time I wore velvet was when I played a Wise Man in a Church Christmas Play as a kid -- Stud does not come to mind, maybe dork?

You know who has really cute, reasonably priced holiday stuff is Banana Republic. I usually go there every season and get something nice and black for the holidays. Try there. Off Fifth? Nah...that's too picked over. I would try Banana. They roll stuff over to sale pretty quick too.

My husband just emailed me: there is still ANOTHER party in Tallahassee the very next night! So we have Dec 9 and 10. I'm not exactly panicking, but the husband just started this job and we want to look halfway decent.
I found a little black dress online at Banana Republic, I might just order it and then try to find something at the Dillard's at Panama. We might try to get into our storage, too!
