DD, I have a burn blister, too, from multi-tasking while trying to make hot tea. For the record, boiling water hurts when you pour it all over your hand. Anyway, I found these bandages called Nexcare Abrasion Cover (they're on the aisle with the plain old Bandaids). They are completely clear, ultra thin and waterproof, so you can protect your skin while continuing all those fun little Christmas chores. Hope this helps!

Ouch!!! Funny thing is, I was so intent on getting that (&^$ brittle poured, I didn't really feel a lot of pain til after the fact--when it was STUCK to my finger!!

Tip of the day:

When you burn yourself, skin keeps burning for TEN minutes! Apply ice immediately and KEEP ICE ON BURNED AREA for TEN minutes at least! This will dramatically reduce the after effects!

That is so true, though in my experience much longer than 10 minutes. A few weeks before the scalding water, I gripped the handle of an iron skillet that had just come out of a 350 degree oven (yeah, ADD). I immediately ran cold water over it for a few minutes, then got a blue gel pack from the freezer, wrapped it in a towel and slid wrapped pack and my hand into a sock to keep it in place. When it thawed, I swapped it with another pack. I also covered my hand in bee propolis throughout, and the next morning. . . nada. No redness, no blisters, no sign of anything. The one blister I got from the recent water incident resulted from it being the one place I did not keep cool.

You do not want to create burn scars from minor wounds. So, the first thing to remember is to NEVER put ice on a burn. Apply cold running water to it as soon as possible, as this will probably limit the damage and ease the pain. Try to get it under cold water within 30 seconds. But icing the wound will result in permanent scarring. (A note of caution here: even applying cold water to a major full thickness burn must be avoided, for it can cause shock. Call 911.)

Silvadene is a miracle worker, but I believe you have to have a prescription.

How's the blister, DD? Were you able to get all your wrapping done? I'm glad I read this thread before I turned my oven on for my Christmas cooking. You're so sweet DL, for asking. It's still intact and bandaged. MC, CVS didn't have the stuff you recommended, but I did get clear band aids. It's all good. I haven't finished the wrapping, I think the Corona got in the way more than the blister! It's all LuLu's fault.

I remembered I spilled hot coffee on my arm from my press and blistered badly. I used pure aloe plant, which took the 'fire' out immediately, kept it bandaged and let it do it's thing. I thought I was going to ER - Sacred Heart, but didn't have to go. It was a few days later that I bumped it and the bandaging came off taking the dead skin with it......that pain literally took me to my knees and snatched my breath for a minute. So, be careful with it as it is healing, too. The scar was superficial and is now gone......happened two years ago.

Foille ointment is very good for burns and does not require a prescription.
