OMG..I feel hugely guilty, but that is the funniest post this year.:lolabove:

Don't feel guilty. I tell my boys every day that the only reason I don't murder (abort?) them is that I would have to spend at least an entire day dealing with the paperwork. They think I would get in trouble for it, but I remind them that no jury would ever convict me of what is obviously justifiable homicide.

Sorry 30ashopper. If you're going to bait me with the post-partum abortion issue, I'm going to run with it. :D I've been pro-choice all along: I've chosen not to be pregnant ever since I hit puberty. I'm also pro-life: I believe in the sanctity of all life, including that of abortion doctors. Murder is murder...

Hialeah abortion clinic denies throwing newborn away after botched procedure -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

Quite honestly I don't understand why the doctor would be charged with murder. The woman requested a late term abortion and was in the process of having that procedure done. Late term abortions often occur with the fetus partially removed from the womb. Just because the fetus was birthed prematurely doesn't mean Williams isn't entitled to her rights under Roe v Wade. The child may have been alive and breathing, but that's really irrelevant isn't it? It would have died regardless without medical attention and the procedure would have been completely legit if the misshap of the birth had never occured.

(..and yes I'm "looking for trouble" with this post. :D)

All I'm going to say is this: If I were a fetus in a botched abortion [or born non-viable] I would not want to be kept alive. Whether or not late term abortions should be legal is a whole other story.

It's the same principle as when someone murders a pregnant woman and gets charged with two counts of murder. It was a life because she wanted the baby. If she doesn't want the baby, it is not a life. That is all I'm saying...for real!

I firmly believe that at some point during a pregnancy the fetus becomes a life regardless of how the mother feels. (That point of course should be defined by science, not religion.) At which point the child is entitled to the same Constitutional Rights we all enjoy, including the right to life.

On the flip side, I'm a proponent of abortion rights early on in a pregnancy, but for me that right is convoluted by Roe v Wade which IMHO was unconstitutional and should be repealed. I wish this country could straighten out the abortion mess, because until we do, we will have to endure tragic stories like this one. The image of a living breathing new born swept off a plastic chair into a biohazard trash bag and tossed out back (legally) sends shivers down my spine. I really can't in any way connect with anyone who could justify such an act.

This country did straighten it out - it's called "mutation of non-human organisms/cells".:dunno:

Carry on, folks - I'll stay out of it....
