I saw The King's Speech last night. It reinforced my picture of “royals” as inbred, indulgent half-wits. I take Douglas' point that we shouldn't “hate” these folks, but there's not a whole lot to admire in them. The movie was sumptuously produced, costumed & acted. But the supposedly inspiring story was a guy trying to cope with and overcome a debilitating stutter. If the guy in question had been “common,” would a movie of “A Regular Guy's Speech” have won the Oscar for Best Movie?
