In your post 4 of this thread you told me we agreed on taxes except for one caveat- which btw- I agree with your caveat.
Ah- if only the world was as black and white as you see it, my friend. I wish I could think so simply.
Income tax is but one form of taxation, my brutha from anutha mutha. You are hung up on the percentage of income we all pay in income tax. You have no regard for the percentage in income we all pay for all other taxes and gov't fees.
No one gets away with paying nothing in taxes.
You should be a recruiter or sales rep for the ranks of the poor and unfortunate. You make their life sound so grand. They get the same life as you but they don't have any of your fiscal, emotional or mortal suffering.

As you are prone to do lately, you misread my post. I don't have fiscal, emotional or mortal suffering. I said they DO NOT have to suffer such. I realize income tax is only one form of taxation. It is also one, which IMO, everyone should participate in for the reasons cited in an earlier post.
You're right. I pretty much see the world as black and white and I am not ashamed of it. Maybe you should try thinking a little more simply. You might find it not only refreshing but enlightening as well. I learn that simplistic thinking through my, no one else's, experience, education and friends. Too many want great degrees of "gray" in this country, I fear. It is what leads to possible destruction of our present way of life, but then again, I am afraid that is what some want.
Destruction of a way of life has helped our country thrive if you think about things like abolition of slavery, giving women the right to vote, institution of the civil rights act. I'm sure that plenty of black and white thinkers had their parade rained on and candy taken from them, poor babies.
