This is a sad coincidence that you're asking this question because Merman and I have just walked in the house only an hour ago. By all rights we should be in Seagrove Beach right now, but we had to turn around because our children's beloved pet cat Daisy died the day after Christmas. We're going to bury her tomorrow morning in my antique hat box, right under the downspout near the porch. She used to like to sit there and suntan so it's is a good place for her to rest forever. I'm going to dig the hole really deep and lay a heavy piece of slate over the spot and plant a garden around it so that even if we move, no one will disturb her accidentally. I always thought we'd cremate Daisy, as we have with our other pets whom we had to put to sleep in their old age, but Daisy died in our bedroom in Philippa's arms. She died at home so she will stay at home in our garden, close to us.

Aww...Mermy. Again, I am so sorry. She will make your garden even more special.

Pardon my practicality here, but a good point was made earlier: You are never too young to take care of these things.

1. Make a living will and make sure that everyone knows it contains your wishes and abides by them
2. Make a last will and testament to direct your heirs as to your wishes, and make sure that everyone knows it contains your wishes and abides by them.
3. Prepay for the services, plot, cremations, reef, whatever via a reputable insurance plan. That way no $ have to change hands at a vulnerable time.
4. If you are concerned about eternity, take care of the relationship between you and God.

sorry about sounding morbid, but the nuts and bolts of dying are real and need to be addressed.

I can only hope that there will be a great celebration of life when I leave this place.

i have no doubt people will celebrate when i go, esp. people at work... whom i actually make work for their money :yikes:

I would like to be cremated and my ashes dropped over Bora Bora. My husband says he'll be happy to do it with his new wife on their honeymoon.

you should kick in in the groin ;-)

So sorry Merms. I know y'all loved Daisy. :sosad:
At least Pippi was there to be with her in final moments.
Sending hugs your way.

I want to be cremated. When I think of my ashes being scattered in different places, like the beach and the mountains, among others, I couldn't stand to be buried in one spot. There's so much beauty in the world. Why spend eternity underneath it when I can be blowing through it right along with the wind?:dunno:

Mermy... my heart goes out to all of you. Daisy's Garden is a lovely plan.

Joey was cremated and rests on the mantle where I can keep my eye on him... because, as a good friend observed: "that Joey bears watching"

He occasionally still travels with me. It cracked me up when my youngest niece asked "Auntie Dune-Ahhh, is Uncle-Joey-in-the-Jar coming with you when you visit?"

Would you be stuffed and standing in the corner?

Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox

Well I ain't afraid of dyin', it's the though of being dead
I wanna go on being me, once my eulogy's been read
Don't spread my ashes out to sea, don't lay me down to rest
You can put my mind to ease if you fill my last request

Prop me up beside the jukebox when I die
Lord I wanna go to heaven but I don't wanna go tonight
Fill my boots up with sand, put a stiff drink in my hand
prop me up beside the jukebox when I die

Just make your next selection and while your still iin line
You can pay you last respects, one quarter at a time

Prop me up beside the jukebox when I die
Lord I wanna go to heaven but I don't wanna go tonight
fill my boots up with sand put a stiff drink in my hand
prop me up beside the jukebox when I die

Oh prop me up beside the jukebox when I die
