Oh my! Bush just said that his number one priority is balancing the Federal Budget. :rotfl: I am not sure just how serious I will take the remainder of this speech.

Just my luck. They are playing it again, at midnight, on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360.

Bush just said "We can balance the budget without increasing Taxes. We need to be more disciplined in our spending". Translation, cut all programs without touching their big fat over inflated paychecks.:pissed:

I need to turn this off and put on something more realistic that I can believe in. Like Keanu Reeves in The Matrix.

You didn't miss much. Click here to go to his 2003 speech, much of which he said again. Here are a few statements from that 2003 speech (Obviously, all talk and no action):

" Our second goal is high quality, affordable health care for all Americans."
Ditto for 2007

"A single chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen generates energy, which can be used to power a car -- producing only water, not exhaust fumes. With a new national commitment, our scientists and engineers will overcome obstacles to taking these cars from laboratory to showroom, so that the first car driven by a child born today could be powered by hydrogen, and pollution-free. (Applause.)"
In tonight's speech, Bush said the that we need alternative fuel sources.

"Join me in this important innovation to make our air significantly cleaner, and our country much less dependent on foreign sources of energy. (Applause.)"
Ditto for tonight's speech.

" I ask the Congress to commit $15 billion over the next five years, including nearly $10 billion in new money, to turn the tide against AIDS in the most afflicted nations of Africa and the Caribbean. (Applause.)"
This year he is committed to sending something like $1.2 Billion to Africa to help people with Malaria. What is up with Bush and the continent of Africa?

"The best way to address the deficit and move toward a balanced budget is to encourage economic growth, and to show some spending discipline in Washington, D.C. (Applause.)"
Ditto again for this year.

etc

Or, if you want to bore yourself even more, you can go here to see the webcast of the 2007 speech from tonight. ;-)

If you want the summary of his initiatives, here is a quick glance, with details in links.

SJ you crack me up. Too much effort wasted on such a small person. GW, not moi.
Unfortunately he is still playing on the idot box (aptly named) cause my fat arse does not want to walk away from my computer keyboard, my double Southern Comfort and Squirt, and chocolate truffles, (thank you Reverend Lynette!) to walk over and pick up the remote to change the channel or even mute.:pissed:
Alas however, just typing that gave me the gumption to get off my butt and change the channel. Now I'm watching Nancy (dis)Grace and her whiney asp.:pissed:

Where did I put that Matrix DVD, I need a good dose of reality.:rotfl:
