If you think that posts by "some" on this board are not, on occasion, insulting, I have the proverbial bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you. Oh, and so you don't have to say it, that goes for the right, too, but they are usually not so obvious.

I find many posts on here a simply lacking in truth, but have never taken one as an insult. I just consider the source and move on.

Where should we be ranking in these categories and by whose standards?

And, why only these categories? I can think of several that aren't on his list.

I feel a movement toward overall betterment, also. True change. I am optimistic as are most of the people I know.

Right, since the campaign from the Tea Bagging right has been one of unity and working together. :sarc:

If Republicans take control of congress the only thing I can guarantee is 2 years of stalling and possibly an impeachment attempt.

You probably feel the same way about people who excel at math and science.
Nah,not really but pretty boring. An exception though, this spring,I had an opportunity to fish cobia fish with a NASA rocket engineer and he was a very nice and cool guy.....Going to fish with him again this coming spring.

Seriously, how can 20% of Americans be that dumb? :dunno:

Not only is that basic 1st grade geography, it's how they show you the weather, and a common logo (Tom Thumb is just one example).

IMHO, we aren't going back to the way things were, we're going to try something new. We are moving away from single party control to a balance of power. The sides will also be switched from what we had between 2006 - 2008. The american people didn't like the results of that period, they didn't like the results of 2008 - 2010, so now we are ready to change things up again.

Some of my optimism stems from the fact that the vast majority of folks headed to congress in January have never held federal office.

If I believed that most of those people were seriously interested in making a real difference and working to improve our government I would feel better...but, there is little to demonstrate that seriousness IMO.

But the country the right wants to return to isn't the America that the Greatest Generation built. Judging by the statements of many of the Republican and Tea Party-backed candidates on next Tuesday's ballots, it's the America that antedates the New Deal -- a land without Social Security, unions or the minimum wage. It's the land that the Greatest Generation gladly left behind whey they voted for and built the New Deal order. All of us should want our country back, but that country should be the more prosperous and economically egalitarian nation that flourished at the time when America was not only the world's greatest power, but also a beacon to the world.

The ones who are spending tons of their own money are not doing it for any alturistic reason nor are they doing it to work 24/7 at a job that pays in a year what many of them now make in maybe a week or less..also, the fact that they have no experience, while on the surface may sound like a good thing; is full of danger points--mostly staffed by special interest operatives, who have been in the game for a long time...the newbies won't have a chance against the likes of K Street.
The Republican machine is fueled by the big corporations and that is not about to change, especially now that the conservative Court has given free rein to corporations to fund campaigns without disclosure...

Not until many more capable people who are interested in making a real difference in our political process, stand up and make their voices heard will we see the kind of change you refer to IMO.
