CBO reforcast of Obama presidency

I would have liked to have seen Obama handle it too. Or Reagan, Bush I, Clinton (anybody but GW on either side of the aisle). They would have gone after the individuals responsible for those atrocities rather than going after Iraq. And in not mishandling 9-11 the way GW did, we would have maintained solid standing in the world and perhaps could have made some progress in the middle east peace process without kissing anyone arse.

Axis of Evil still exists even if you can't bear to admit it. The intelligence at the time indicated Iraq was a legitimate threat and it was not just US intelligence. Only 3 Democrats voted against the use of force in Iraq, so you can blame the Democrats as well. The war was mishandled not the decision to go to war. If you think for one second that the Middle East would be more stable if we had not gone into Iraq, then you have no idea of the hatred of Israel and the West for supporting Israel in the Muslim world. BO wants to negotiate with terrorist nations because he has no experience with them. I hope to God it does not kill more American lives on our own soil.

Please explain to me (dummy it down for me) how/why the Middle East is more stable as a result of us invading Iraq. Please also explain to me how/why invading Iraq has done anything to change any of the hatred of Israel and the West for supporting Israel in the Muslim world.

Please define what you mean by "terrorist nation". Be sure to be careful to use criteria that would not in some way put the US into that category.

Let's be real here. Americans will be killed in America and elsewhere by people who hate us and want to kill us. There is nothing GW, BO or any other president can do to stop kooks who kill in the name of religion.

How did the discussion get from a 9.5 trillion budget deficit under Obama to discussing the merits of invading Iraq? Bush made mistakes which cost us about 3.7 trillion. We all agree with that. Are we really going to say that because Bush blew through 3.7 trillion on Iraq, Afghanistan, Katrina, and free drugs for the elderly Obama is justified in racking up another 9 -12 trillion in debt for all his programs?

How about we draw a line today and simply say, enough. We want fiscal responsibility from Washington. Regardless if that means raising taxes or cutting spending or both. I personally would prefer Obama pay as he goes - I would prefer Obama raise taxes to balance the budget. At least then the American people can make educated decisions on whether or not they feel these programs are worth it. Borrowing the money from China and Japan just sweeps the situation under the rug. Where's all that honesty and transparency we were promised?

I said to give Obama the benefit of the doubt and cited post 9-11 as a time when everyone gave a repub POTUS the benefit of the doubt.

It just spiralled back into old Iraq talking points from there. SORRY for my part of it!

Bernanke has the solution to this: create money out of thin air (where have I heard that before?) and retire debt at the long end. He's only committed a few hundred billion thus far but give that boy time and we will be debt-free. Well at least until the Congress appropriates the next budget.
