And the Sowallers who have lost family members or have family members suffering from Alzheimer's don't find it very funny.

I've lost a grandmother and great aunt to it. The aunt was shipped off to a nursing home where she basically rotted until she passed. That was before people really knew what Alzheimer's was and could discuss it candidly. My grandmother lived a very long life to the ripe old age of 88 when she finally died of old age. She was diagnosed at the age of 78 with Alzheimer's and thanks to medications such as Aricept the years that we were able to spend with her in a lucid and alert manner were greatly extended.

When I make that reference it is generally aimed at an older member of the sowal community who constantly disregards my opinion as being that of a whipper snapper with no life experience who will obviously change and retract once he's seen enough. That gets as old as the Aricept jokes, but doesn't seem to garner near the out pouring of indignation.

Hey young whipper snapper! You obviously see me as a senile, old explosion of ordorous hot air and do not value anything this elder has to say. It is your right to do so as I have said many times and to completely ignore what I, or any othe elder posts. It is also my right to consider you a "whipper snapper"(surprised you knew the term) with no life experience. That is not true. You have life experience. Just not any I agree with or can support. Now, we can continue this useless discourse or we can call a halt to it and be civil. What is your choice?

I lost my grandfather to it and find NOTHING humorous about it.

...there's things in life that you got to laugh about...jokes about old age and death can be downright hilarious in the proper context, sometimes even in the improper context...
