Even if she was filled with the images of what that statue represents she should not take the law into her own hands.

Yep, that's our history. How is defacing or removing statutes and monuments going to change that?

On a local level...

www.wjhg.com/content/news/Heritage-or-Hate-440959753.html

I'm just curious...that monument has no face of any confederate solider. It lists only the names of men who fought in the confederacy and has historical value to people born and raised right here whose ancestors names appear on it, who fought and died for something they believed in. Right, wrong or indifferent it is part of Walton Counties heritage and our history. It may make some feel all warm, fuzzy and SUPERIOR to have it removed but what it does symbolically negates history.

For Doctor Carolynn Zonia to call people white supremacists and racists is a division tactic and arrogance at its finest....and isn't what this group is attempting to do suppressing the rights of others?

Ma'am with all due respect...you are a hypocrite.

It stops the celebration and perceived positive memorialization of that history. Sandblasting Stone Mountain will go a long way to changing perceptions. Growing up those were the coolest historical figures around. I mean they were etched into the face of a mountain!! How cool is that? If I were a person or the offspring of a person who had segregated water fountains and all that implies then I'd likely not want reminders of bigotry, subjugation, and hatred around either. Some may say tough titties that's just the way it is but this is America and, whether or not it always happens in practical reality, as a nation we aspire and claim to be a better people and have a sense of fairness. Though as individuals it seems we are far from that worthy aspiration.

Besides, the victors write the history books. Seems like we as the Confederate States of America got a longer leash than is usually given to the losing side. Times are catching up with that glitch is all.

Where does it end? Fact is, it doesn't. What's next? Should black memorials and monuments be torn down also?

What happens when you personally offend someone? Do folks remove you too?
