It's calcium carbonate (chalk/Tums) and and charcoal. Doesn't say activated charcoal (but does say activated calc carb?), which can help with poisoning, because it will absorb all the s*** in your system.

NOTE: charcoal (activated or not) will block you the he*l up, "poop shoot" speaking. I wouldn't take on a regular basis. It doesn't just pass from your body... you might be adding enema to your list of things needed.:rotfl:

It also absorbs good things, like nutrients, if you are actually eating & drinking at the same time.:dunno:

I did use activated charcoal with really, really bad hangovers in college, as I worked in a health food store and we kept a bottle under the counter, just for that. But also head to For the Health of It and pick up a little tube of Nux Vomica. That helps with the nausea, but won't prevent one. But, no side effects, no drug interactions, no blocked up poop shoot.:funn:

I think this type of charcoal comes in a nice little capsule that is free of mess. In the ER they told us to never give charcoal to drunks because the booze has long since been absorbed thus the charcoal wasn't going to do much and the hospital concoction is easily aspirated. Now that stuff we both know and love at the hospital, that is a true mess, isn't it? One of my favorite med horror stories involves that stuff, but I will not air it publically;-)

you are right - a lot of people with colostomies take the charcocaps to help absorb some of the odor. the nurses in e.r. just cringe when an od comes in and the docs order activated charcoal. they know their semi-clean uniform is a goner :D
