In our neck of the woods, when you get a good day in November you put up the lights because you don't know if you will get another chance. I put up the outside lights last weekend. The inside lights always go up the weekend after Thanksgiving.

this is what they do in our area too. it's not unusual to be putting up outdoor lights around halloween.

If it weren't for pre-lit tree's I would not have one. I guess I am getting to be a scrooge in my old age. I used to hate having to put the lights on the tree. Of course, no one else that lives in my house felt the need to help me, so I would fuss and cuss the whole time I was decorating the tree. I finally bought a pre-lit one and it isn't so bad doing that one by myself. I just hate the whole commercialism (sp) of Christmas now, so it is hard for me get in the spirit of things.....

So many grinches :sosad: :dunno:

We have not one, but 2 trees that we decorate. One is a formal tree of gold, burgandy and crystal ornaments and crystal lanterns which MAN-go spends hours putting up. (he is the light man) Then there is a special garland gold mesh that goes on it, and I do it that. Then we put the ornaments on together.
The second tree is the funn tree in the den which we start, but leave some ornaments for family to put on on Xmas Eve.
A whole village comes out, each bedroom is decorated, staircases, doors draped in garland and lights, well every inch of my house reeks Christmas my sister says. The White House has nothing on me.
I really enjoy it, because it brings a smile to everyone's face especially my nephews and the biggest kid of all my 99 yr old Grandpa.

Then after Xmas, I really biotch about having to pack it all away.
My village once stayed out till March. :D

Sounds lovely, Mango! Good for you!!
I also have two big trees and then some sort of tree in every room, including the bathrooms. Every year, the day after Thanksgiving, I start, and it usually takes me about a week to get it all done since mr. dd refuses to do exterior illumination. I always seems to wait to do that when it's freakin' freezing and the wind's blowing about 90 mph. :bang: And yes, taking it all down takes a LOT longer than a week!

I like to get through Thanksgiving first, but after that, anything goes.
I usually just put up red chili pepper lights, don't know how well that would go over in these parts.
I usually take everything down New Year's Day.

I always do red chilli pepper lights..(won 1st prize last year in my bah=humbug
neighborhood)...and I don't leave them for the garbage man at the curb...I
recycle...I give them to Ollie at The Red Bar...
