Christmas tree recycling

Does anyone know of any services locally that have Christmas Tree recycling? We usually just put it to the curb with the trash or burn it, but I've heard of many other things to do with them.

I heard about a group that takes the trees sinks them into ponds or wetlands for fish and wildlife.

Any thoughts or suggestions on who to contact?

I know a beachfront owner that recycles their and other trees on their sand dune face. They've been doing this for years and I guess they think it holds some of the sand in place. They do get covered very quickly so maybe it works.

I've actually heard of a lot of people doing that. It seems to work pretty well.

I went down to The Body Of Water Formerly Known as Lake Lanier today and found a forest of old Christmas trees. There was something mildly funny about it. I wondered if we should get them out now, or at least take the cinder blocks to use on other trees.

Home Depot usually has a drop off where they chip the trees for ground cover...

In years past, there has been a bonfire on Grayton Beach on New Year's Eve. We drag our Christmas tree down the beach to the bonfire. Are you doing this helpful thing this year, You-Know-Who-You-Are? Thanks!

You can take the trees to the County site on CR 83, in Blue Mtn Beach. The site is located north of 30A, on the west side of the road, just after the Village at Blue Mtn. They are limited on hours of operation, and the days which they will accept the trees. I believe they started today and will go through the 28th, then again on the 29th and 30th.
