People! Please stop throwing your lit cigarettes out of the car window!!!!

I was driving to the Lowes in PCB last week around dusk and saw some idiot throw a lit cigarette (glowing embers flying) out of his car window. What was really ridiculous is that he did this directly across 98 from the huge burned out section east of Carillon where they had that big fire last week.

Then, on Saturday I was on 98 in south Walton and saw the fire department putting out a grass fire alongside the road where someone had obviously thrown a lit cig.

What the heck????? Florida is tinder dry. Please use some common sense!!!!

This drives me nuts even when we're not at high risk for fires! Noone has ever been able to explain to me why they can chain smoke in their car w/ the windows closed, but can't keep their cigarette butts inside!

We see piles of ugly cigarette butts at every stoplight. I suggested to my daughter the other day that we collect them and make the wolds largest Butt sculpture! I've always thought it would be fun when we see someone toss a butt out their window at a stoplight, to run up and toss it back in their window. Just toss it and and say ... Hey, you dropped this!!

A friend did that - picked it up, walked up and knocked on their window! Said the look on their face was priceless!

In North Carolina, there is an 800 number you can call and report people littering from their car. You tell the details of what you saw, where, when, and license plate number, and the state sends a warning letter to the owner of the car who committed the offense.

Uncle Timmy's title of "cigarette terrorists" says it all! Would be nice if they started arresting/fining people around here and not just when it is high fire danger. I can't drive down 98 w/o seeing a cigarette butt go out a window.

Someone in front of me once threw a cigarette butt out their window. It flew right into mine and burned a serious hole in my dress and hurt like heck!!
