Cleaning on Bay Drive this Sat -- What's up with the big flashing signs noting such? The prisoners were cleaning that stretch of right of way last week. Is this a new awareness campaign?

I read in the Beach Breeze that the county will be providing dumpsters, etc where folks can dispose of yard debris and other items that Waste Management doesn't normally pick up, excluding hazardous waste and flammable items. I don't know about junk appliances or discarded home furnishings. Might want to call Citizen Services at 892-8530 to get the real scoop.

That's correct. The guys from the Landfill will be out there with roll-off dumpsters to take yard debris, white goods (old stoves, refrigerators, etc.), old unwanted furniture, tires, scrap metal, ... just about everything except the "hazardous materials" such as paint, flammables, pesticides, etc. 7 am to 4 pm -- free of charge.

Oh, and there will be another Clean Up Day on Chat Holley on July 13 -- same deal. They've already held two in Villa Tasso and Choctaw Beach, so working their way around the county. The two previous ones yielded tons of stuff that otherwise might have found it's way out into the woods on a dirt road or something.

Thanks for the info. They might have better turn out if they made people aware of what was happening. Not everyone reads the Beach Breeze.
