When our children were younger, we would tip EXTRA to allow for the extra mess.

As to CoCos, it's a good stand-by restaurant. Not great, not terrible, but good inexpensive Mexican food with a decent margarita. :D

Whew. From the title of this post, I thought Coco's was closing down! We're losing too many restaurants lately so I'm relieved to see this is nothing more than a bad service complaint.

If anyone has read my thoughts on CoCo's Margaritas in the past, you will know that you order them for the quantity, not quality. They do have a slick taste to them, but they are cheap and big! The prices at CoCo's are about the cheapest around, so tourists and locals, both, are able to eat inexpensively. Regarding gratuity on kids meals, kids are people and if they are served food, what is wrong with tipping for service? :boxing:;-):D
No question. I'm not a big fan of added gratuity for large parties, but it's the practice I'm not fond of, not the way the number is determined. I can say that when I go out to eat with 4 kids, they take up more space and energy than a group of 4 adults!

No news here, Coco's margarita's have always sucked. I think that the food is actually pretty good and they have always been very friendly to my family in spite of my kids crawling under the table. Sorry for your bad experience but we go frequently and will keep going.

forced gratuity on any party is always a gamble for the server. when presented to me, that's what the server gets. i know many servers(myself included) have been burned by large parties, probably due to the drunks pretending not to know how much each call drink costs. and, they're the ones who invariably leave early, throwing $20 on the table, saying "all i had was a couple of drinks and some chips"

i will typically start the gratuity scale at 20% and go up or down from there, depending on the quality of service only. i left more than 20% at snapperheads today.

a forced 20% tip on a party of six is not common, there must be more to the story...
