thank you for your advice, and i will follow it. I run vista home premium---3 gb ram. I use western digital my book for back up. Haven't installed anything new. Yahoomail and web pages just sit there and blink and refuse to budge when i try to close out with the x or minimize. I go to taskbar and close or minimize by right clicking the page. I use avg internet security suite 9,0,801.

I am having the same problem! Also using avg 9.0.801& Firefox.
Internet just freezes & i have to go to task manager to close Firefox.
I immediately can open it back up & everything works great for awhile .... Then it happens again!
The only thing i have noticed is high cpu utilization since the first of April.

JC, your problems are the exact same ones that I am still experiencing. Do you think AVG 9.0.801 + Firefox are the source of this?

Hit CNTRL/ALT/DELETE and open up your task manager. Look at everything running and see what is giving you high cpu utilization. If it is a normal program, you should be able to uninstall it if its something you don't use. If you right click on it in the task manager you can choose to end it right there. If its something weird sounding, it might be malware or spam and you will need to run something to clean it up. Good luck!
