Wait! What are your suggestions? Right now I'm playing an old one called Cannon challenge on Future weapons from Discovery channel. I really like blowing sh!t up and pretending they are leaking oil rigs or BP execs.

Civilization 5 comes out for the PC on September 21, with a Mac version hopefully following a few months after that.

Best turn-based strategy game series evah!

a bunch of letters are stacked up on each other and you make words. when you make words other letters fall. you get more points for bigger words. the letter fall like in that game bejeweled??? i don't know if you have played that one or not.

BigFishGames.com is a great place. They have online games, PC games and games for Mac. The games aren't free but you can try them out for 1 hour then buy if you like it. After buying a few games the price goes down and sometimes the games are free.

I've gone there for years for computer games. My favorites are hidden object games. Here's a list of the genres:

There's a ton! There's a great puzzle/adventure series called The Legend of Monkey Island and the sequel, Revenge of LeChuck, just got a HUGE graphical overhaul, and will have you laughing out loud quite often. And Peggle, dear lord I'm sorry I'm introducing you to this terribly addictive game. There's a ton of old ones if you can get a hold of them, but they may take some searching:

Maniac Mansion
Day of the Tentacle
ANYTHING with Sam and Max
Adventure Quest 1-5 (5 was one of my first computer games)
Puzzle Quest
King's Quest 1-7

These all require more thinking than the modern games do, but offer some great humor and some real deep thought.

I still play the slime popping game that JohnR posted, along with the puzzle where you move a block around a grid without falling off.
