I am curious to hear your comments regarding Bush appointing an unofficial War Czar to head up the wars with Iraq and Afghanistan. At least three other Generals were smart enough to decline the position. Is he setting up Lt General Douglas Lute to take the blame for the failure of the war?

Joe,
I know your question is not directed at me but - when the reality does sink in at what a monumental failure this war has been - the finger will be pointed directly at Bush and his administration - I think too many people now realize that there is truely little hope.

First of all I do not think the populace believes the surge will work overnight - no-one expects that or is that naive - I just think very very few people have any confidence at all is that as a strategy. And although I have a very wide and extensive vocabulary I still do not have enough adjectives to describe just how very little I think of this president and I am DELIGHTED to see that more and more Republicans are starting to see things my way!!!

You use a lot of words to say you hate Bush.

PLEASE - AS if I watch Fox news -

I think this is hilarious. I'll address it in another thread.

most of the world does know that Iraq had nothing to do with 911.

They are wrong. 31% of AMERICANS don't know who our VP is. 45% of AMERICANS believe that the phrase ?from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs? is in the Constitution. One third of Americans don't know what the Bill of Rights is. Do you believe that they, along with the rest of the world who wasn't attacked, has done any real homework on this? I hate to break it to you, but people are stupid.

I haven't really read that much about it. I'm more of a leave policy to the civilians and wars to the generals kind of guy. I don't believe that they are trying to find a scapegoat, though. There is no way Bush can get out of that, and he knows it. Rumsfeld's name won't be in the history books in 50 years, why should the war czar's?

Or maybe just the people that are willing to answer a phone survey are ;)

I think many people in this country know who the VP is - maybe only because he shot that guy in the face - and the pseudo Constitutional phrase sounds like a trick question. I have no idea where it's from, but I tend to go for the overall content instead of sentance fragments.

I believe that phrase is from the Communist Manifesto. ;-)

Wouldn't it be good to learn about things which scare you? It is difficult to ridicule something that you are not familiar with.
No, just meant I was glad it wasn't some famous phrase from one of our documents that would make me look really stupid for not knowing it!

Knowledge is always the best defense! We fear the unknown because we don't know any better!

You said it, not me. :funn:It is "some famous phrase" from a document that you should have learned about in your US Gov't class back in middle school. If you are not able to recognize where it comes from, you will certainly not know when it works its way into your daily life.
