Dang! That's an expensive fix! Sounds like the Riverbend Festival here in the Nooga. It's amature hour. Everybody that has access to a boat gets out on the river (constant 5 knot current) and proceeds to break every boating code of etiquette known

That would be the Billy Bowlegs festival in FWB.

Kurt-

I had the privelege of participating in that parade once. Once. It started out great, but by the time we got into Ft. Walton, some of our fellow paraders were doing their best to make a claim on their boaters insurance. Those people were idiots. We scooted out when it started getting ugly. Do they still do the water balloon fight?

I went once about 6 years ago. I didn't see any parade. Just thousands of boats, rafts, jet skis, inner tubes, canoes, etc. - all trying not to crash into each other. There were a lot of water cannons and balloons. We were in a tall boat so we just used 5 gallon buckets.

RiverOtter,
You can find the tide charts in the local phone books. Crab Island can be fun, but there are some crazy people who show up very often. Be careful.

Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, every weekend in Destin is crazy. It is like Christmas all Summer.

Sorry you missed the Power Boat Races this past weekend. I think you would have had a great time.

Crab island was great 10-15 years ago before it really caught on. But I agree it can get semi-dangerous with the number of people that are there on any given Saturday or Sunday. Give me a quiet corner of the bay any day over that madness - or better yet, 10 miles out in the Gulf. But I'll admit one thing about Crab Island - the "scenery" is pretty outstanding.

:sosad: Don't remind me... We tried to figure a way down but couldn't :bang: Oh well... We will be down in July though.

Thanks for all the warnings about the nut cases. In my 30 + Years of boating I'm gotten pretty good at navigating around them.

You've been navigating since you were 2?

I understand, but the question to ask is, "Are the nutzos good at navigating around you and the little Otters?" Will they rip off your railing too?
